Mission - To reduce the destructive nature of tropical cyclones by exploiting all the potential uses of Active Marine Barrier Systems.

Our Services

The Active Marine Barrier System (AMBS) is patented in UK, US, Europe, China and Japan. It consists of 2 types of autonomous special purpose ships:

  • The Cradle System - consisting of 5 basic components (3 control units and 2 height adjustable barriers)
  • The Pebble - a single vessel generally deployed individually or in small groups.

AMBS Cradle System

  • Modular barrage system protecting offshore, large estuary, port and harbour entrances and coastal major structures
  • Comprises three control vessels and two adjustable height barriers, together reaching 172m long. Other configurations are possible
  • Engineered to break waves upto 14m high (notably Hurricane Sandy’s largest waves were recorded at 14ft.
  • Designed to be positioned into the path of tropical storms.
  • Reduces storm surge speed, height and velocity impact, redirecting storm wave energy, enabling a localized active storm-wave-flow management
  • Generates a wide-water-barrier pool surrounding assets with becalmed water with lowered elevations

AMBS Pebble

  • Riverine and near-shore semi-submersible vessel able to diffract, refract, deflect & disperse destructive storm wave energy:
  • Low draught breakwater system with patented telescopic facia
  • Transforms shape and perspective for optimal impact and protection of fleet
  • Self-manoeuvres into position
  • Fleet generate localised becalmed water barrier-pools within storm surge condition

As at January 2023, AMBS development is assessed as Technology Readiness Level 5. Working with potential partners, IPTS Ltd. are progressing AMBS through to being able to license fully the construction and operation of these vessels.
